The SPV5 series includes seven models. The entry tier comprises the HMD 270M8-SPV (2,700 kN) and HMD 308M8-SPV (3,080 kN), priced between $55,000-80,000, targeting cup lids, sauce cups, and small containers in 4-8 cavity molds. The mid-range tier includes the HMD 380M8-SPV (3,800 kN) and HMD 400M8-SPV (4,000 kN) at $75,000-110,000, optimized for yogurt cups in 8-16 cavities and medium food containers in 4-6 cavities. The performance tier features the HMD 480M8-SPV (4,800 kN), HMD 530M8-SPV (5,300 kN), and HMD 600M8-SPV (6,000 kN) at $85,000-150,000, designed for large containers, multi-cavity food packaging, and high-output IML applications. All models share the same servo-hydraulic architecture, INOVA controller, strengthened platen design, and nitride-treated toggle links. The difference lies in clamping force, platen dimensions, injection capacity, and hydraulic system power.

The HMD 530M8-SPV delivers 5,300 kN clamping with a platen of 1,250 x 1,200 mm and tie bar distance of 820 x 770 mm. Injection speed reaches 490 mm/s with 65-67 mm screws delivering 929-987 cm3 injection volume. The HMD 600M8-SPV tops the range at 6,000 kN with a platen of 1,370 x 1,310 mm, tie bar distance of 910 x 860 mm, and injection speed of 390-422 mm/s from 70-75 mm screws producing 1,078-1,236 cm3 volume. These machines run 8-cavity 500 ml food container molds at 5-6 second cycles or 16-cavity yogurt cup molds at 3.5-4.5 seconds. The 600T handles 4-cavity 1500 ml large containers at 7-9 second cycles. Power systems scale accordingly: the 530T uses 55+55+37 kW triple pump motors, while the 600T features 75+55+37 kW configuration at 19 MPa. Heater power ranges from 36.8 to 42.5 kW across 9-10 temperature control zones, supporting consistent melt quality for large shot weights.

Key differences across the range: injection speed varies from 368 mm/s (270T) to 490 mm/s (530T), a 33% increase that directly affects fill time for thin-wall parts. Injection pressure ranges from 158-177 MPa across all models, maintaining consistent filling capability. Screw L/D ratios stay between 23:1 and 25:1 throughout the range for optimal PP plasticizing. Mold opening stroke increases from 560 mm (270T) to 900 mm (600T), critical for deeper containers requiring more daylight. Ejector force scales from 77 kN (270T) to 155 kN (600T) for reliable demolding of larger parts. Dry cycle time increases from approximately 2.8 seconds on the 270T to 3.5 seconds on the 600T due to greater moving mass, though this difference is typically absorbed within the overall cycle time on larger molds where cooling dominates. Oil tank capacity ranges from 380 L to 850 L, reflecting the increased hydraulic demand of larger clamping cylinders.

Over a 5-year period running 7,200 hours annually, the entry-level HMD 270M8-SPV costs approximately $55,000-70,000 (machine) plus $115,000-140,000 (energy at $0.08/kWh, 74 kW average draw) plus $12,000-18,000 (maintenance) for a total of $182,000-228,000. The high-end HMD 600M8-SPV costs $130,000-150,000 (machine) plus $230,000-280,000 (energy, 167 kW average draw) plus $25,000-35,000 (maintenance) for a total of $385,000-465,000. However, the 600T produces 3-4 times the output of the 270T, so cost per unit is actually 30-45% lower on the larger machine when running at full capacity. The critical factor is utilization rate: a 600T running at 50% capacity costs more per unit than a 270T at 90% capacity.
